Conservation Commissions in New Hampshire are guided by RSA 36-A, which enables a town to establish a Commission for the proper utilization and protection of the natural resources and for the protection of watershed resources of said city or town.
The Greenland Conservation Commission serves as an advisory board to the Board of Selectmen and Planning Board, and reviews any requests for wetland permits. The Commission is responsible for maintaining a record of the Town's natural resources, including marshes and wetlands, and monitors Town-held conservation easements (example: the Weeks Brick House trails). These resources are compiled in the Natural Resource Inventory that's available at the Town Hall.
The Conservation Commission is looking for additional members and could undertake more projects if there is interest. We are happy to take suggestions; just come to one of our meetings the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Town Hall.
