School Safety & Winter Weather

Safe Driving - School
Children are most vulnerable while loading or unloading; waiting a few extra seconds can make a difference.

Please be cognizant that school is in session and driving in winter weather can be dangerous!  While buses are equipped with many safety features, the most dangerous time for kids is when they are entering and exiting the bus.  Take a few extra seconds when traveling near a bus to make sure that all children have had the opportunity to clear the road.  Further, it make take a bus (and your own vehicle!) longer to stop due to snow and ice on the roadway, so leave extra space.  Black ice and/or freezing rain may not be immediately visible.  Be mindful of reduced speed limits near schools which are in effect for 45 minutes before school starts and 45 minutes after school ends.  Safety first!!
