With 45 percent of the State in a moderate drought and on the heels of a heat wave, Greenland officials are asking residents to voluntarily conserve water usage, especially those with wells. The City of Portsmouth has also asked customers to use less water outside. According to the latest report, there are no water use restrictions at this time; however, due to the below normal precipitation pattern and high water demand, please consider the following:
- minimize landscape watering and the use of water for other outdoor purposes such as car washing; and
- limit irrigation water use to only occur between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. to reduce evaporative losses.
